Moldován István: Masses in the service of public collections

The tools of modern network technology and Web 2.0 have made it possible for big masses to not just consume and access information but to take part in creating, innovate and provide information actively. Scientific research is trying to involve active masses into researches supporting “civic science” with network tools. Many international projects are on the way from the topic of astronomy through ornithology to weather observation that are in line with “civic sciences” and “crowdsourcing”. OSZK joined the project Civic Epistemologies in 2014 aiming to make this methodology more current in the field of human studies and public collections.
